Jeremiah 33:3
Do you often dream of living your life at a slower pace, but you just can't seem to find a way, you have probably found yourself exhausted too often. Now matter what season of life you are currently in; newly married, just had a baby, baby just grew up and left home, or even recently graduated college, it is very possible that you are heading towards burnout.
The Editor-in-Chief of Woman's Day magazine, Jane Chestnutt defines this problem as "over scheduled, over-worked, over-whatevered life." (Chestnutt, J., p. 6, 2003) It is important to be self-aware in order to make changes in the right direction. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
The Editor-in-Chief of Woman's Day magazine, Jane Chestnutt defines this problem as "over scheduled, over-worked, over-whatevered life." (Chestnutt, J., p. 6, 2003) It is important to be self-aware in order to make changes in the right direction. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- Is it hard for you to relax?
- Do you find yourself crankier than normal?
- Do you quickly finish one project to only begin another?
- Are you frequently exhausted?
- Are you angry more frequently without reason?
- Are you more secluded than you used to be?
- Are you accomplishing less than you used to but it feels like you are working even harder?
- Is life becoming dull?
If your answers to several of these questions was yes, burnout may be creeping up just around the corner. Don't worry, this isn't permanent. Although it may seem scary, some adjustments to your routine will help tremendously. There is help: Acknowledge that you need the help, and ask for it and take the necessary steps to make the change you need. God is waiting for you.
