We often ask ourselves, Lord what do you want do you want me to do with my life, but too often we're more concerned with the "what" than the important part of "Lord, what do You want me to be? It can become exhausting trying to figure out I am to be and irritating when the question isn't answered in our time. It's a constant struggle. I do, but don't find the peace I'm looking for so as a result, I do more
According to the Excellence vs. Perfectionism chart in "The Relief of Imperfection", when you and I chase for perfection (striving too hard to make it all just right) our lives are molded by our need to constantly do.
This is like the story of when the disciples asked Jesus "What do you want us to do?" and he answered them, "The work God wants you to do is believe." Jesus doesn't fill out a performance chart on our activities. He just wants us to be someone who believes. He wants us to believe that He sent His Son Jesus to show His love. Being does mean that we stop doing, but when we believe, the doing will come naturally.
