This doesn't seem to be the case this year. The quarreling is minimal and we are looking forward to our family vacation, something we haven't been able to do in quite some time. Two of the kids have even hung calendars in their rooms to mark of the days until we leave. Excitement is buzzing and I love it. It's fun to overhear the kids talking about what they're going to pack. Then my eyes start to grow wide wondering how long they think we're going to be gone for and where they think we'll put everything. I imagine the cartoon car stuffed to the brim.
As much as I love to be a fly by the seat of my pants type of person, I have learned that it just does not work for this family. I have lists of errands and to do's on my phone, on pieces of paper and notebooks on my desk. Does anyone have the same problem I do? I make lists and the seem to keep getting longer.
Here's another problem I have and tell me if you're in the same boat. Anytime we go somewhere, even if it's just a weekend, I have to have ALL the laundry done, the dusting, vacuuming, I clean the closets, etc. It's like I go on a cleaning rampage. Then I am absolutely exhausted. It drives my husband crazy because then I am just completely exhausted. This time I started early and I'm trying to pace myself.
So I kind of went off on a tangent, but this is how my mind works. (Probably why my lists are always getting longer too :)). All this to say that I'm glad for the memories we've made so far, that the kids are getting along better than usual, and excited for what the rest of the summer holds.
How have you been enjoying your summers with your families?
