With summer vacation coming to an end we decided to take the kids camping not so far away from home. It's amazing when you take the time to look around just how beautiful and peaceful the world we live in really is. Sometimes you have to purposefully make the time to enjoy it. My husband had a mission this year to visit as many state parks as we could. I think this one may have been my favorite.
O'leno State Park was our home for one night and where we spent the night and our 16th wedding anniversary. What a better way to spend your anniversary than with your family. At one time I may not have thought so, but the more that I think about it, the more I realize how quickly they are growing up.
This was our campsite for the night. I would like to say that we were without luxuries, but we did have our smartphones, Ipods and DSI's.
One thing that I noticed about camping is how much you eat and drink. I bought tons of food and drinks for the kids, and let me remind you that we were only there for one night with the possibility of two. The box of capri suns, yoohoos and cokes were gone by lunch time the next day.
This is my husband. When he found out the kids and I had made a summer bucket list, he did everything he could (on top of working so hard) to help us get those things checked off. He's a pretty great guy.
You know when they are teenagers selfies are popular, but having your mom take your picture all the time isn't. I appreciate the times that she indulges me.
The little guy met us at the river. Now how can you not see the beauty in this?
I was told that this was the oldest suspension bridge in Florida. This picture reminds me to slow down and enjoy each moment that we are given.
So Chris has been canoeing before but the only thing I have ever paddled was an inflatable raft, and that was when I was just a kid. Because of the size of our family we had to take two canoes, and I was a little nervous. I mean there is a sign that says beware of alligator. Let me tell you this was my favorite part of the weekend. I absolutely loved it.
I promise that this is the last picture. It is pretty clear to me that was made by God, and any other explanation just doesn't make sense to me. Take time to enjoy your family and the little things around you. We have given ourselves until the end of Labor Day weekend to cross off as many of our items as possible. Have an awesome week everyone.
